Make It Here: Join the Conversation
- Posted:
Canada has a real opportunity to strengthen domestic food production and expand value-added processing, but it will not happen without industry leadership.
Over the past few weeks, Protein Industries Canada has had meaningful engagement with senior decision‑makers in Ottawa, and we’re hearing directly that the Make It Here message is landing. There is real interest in how Canada can build more domestic capacity, capture more value from what we grow, and strengthen supply chains in a shifting global environment.
Momentum is also building publicly. The campaign is gaining traction, and we continue to hear a consistent message: a visible, public-facing effort like this is what’s needed to move the conversation forward. It connects the economic case to real businesses, real facilities, and real jobs. Now we need industry to stay active in that conversation.
Government attention is limited, and other sectors are actively advocating for their priorities. If food production and value-added agriculture are to be treated as a national economic priority, we need aligned, credible, and visible industry voices. Those voices matter in meetings and in public, with consistent messages over time.
What we’re asking from members:
- Share your proof points: recent or planned investments, jobs created, capacity added, growth milestones, and export wins. Where possible, share these with your local MP.
- Reinforce the narrative: use the Make It Here framing in your government and stakeholder engagement.
- Show visible support: amplify the campaign through your communications channels. Engage on social media where it makes sense, including LinkedIn and Instagram.
To support you, we’ve prepared ready-to-use messaging and materials that can be tailored to your organization’s priorities. Access the member toolkit here. If you’d like support shaping your proof points or outreach, contact the PIC team.
The window is open, and there has never been a better time to grow Canada’s food production and value-added sector. Add your voice and help move the conversation from interest to action. It’s time to Make It Here.
