Canada’s agrifood sector is thriving, and home to trailblazing companies who are leading innovative projects that will change the global food landscape. Protein Industries Canada is seeking a Project Manager to support Member companies in the execution of agrifood processing projects that will increase the economic value derived from Canadian crops.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide Global Innovation Clusters program guidance to Protein Industries Canada Members
  • Contractual project set-up reviews and guidance: milestones, workplans, workbooks
  • Work with clients to execute projects as a Steering Committee member, and monitor progress to ensure that consortia members are meeting the terms of Master Project Agreements
  • Manage and evaluate ongoing projects through tracking of project milestones as reported by Steering Committees
  • Support development of interim and final reports
  • Assist in development of internal standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Support project consortia in management of change orders, foreign cost requests, and other project-specific approvals as required
  • Provide general guidance and technical expertise to Protein Industries Canada Members consistent with the candidate’s technical background
  • Facilitate reporting to stakeholders on project progress, and collaborate with marketing colleagues to share success stories from Member projects
  • Able to travel within Canada occasionally

You bring demonstrated experience building collaboration, solving problems and holding stakeholders accountable. You perform best when balancing multiple priorities and are excited about the opportunity to support development of emerging technology and new markets. You have collaborated with companies of various sizes and have experience interacting with public-sector researchers. You are passionate about the agrifood industry and eager to contribute to Canadian innovation. Above all, you are organized and have exceptional attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  • A degree in Business, Agriculture, Food Science or equivalent is required
  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder projects with budgets over $500,000 will be considered an asset
  • Completion of formal project management training will be considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • A mix of other education and transferable experience will be considered
